ARLINGTON — At a critical time when teachers are edgy due to potential budget cuts, the Arlington School District Board of Directors honored them, along with communities across the nation as part of National Teacher Day.

Teachers and other members of the “certificated” staff group, which includes counselors, librarians, school psychologists and more, of Arlington Public

Schools were honored as the president of the board of directors read a proclamation at the April 27 board meeting.

“We are glad to have the opportunity to show appreciation to certificated staff. Especially during this difficult financial time, the teaching staff is working harder than ever to focus on what’s best for students,” Duskin said.

“Few other professionals touch as many people as teachers do,” said Kent Prairie Elementary School Principal Kathy Engell.

“National Teacher Day is a good time to learn about the contributions educators make to our community every day,” Engall said.

ASD Superintendent, Dr. Kristine McDuffy said she is honored to work with such an outstanding group of caring and dedicated people.
