Annual art festival, plant sale coming to Arlington High School

Community members will soon have a chance to purchase a last-minute Mother's Day gift.

ARLINGTON — Community members will soon have a chance to purchase a last-minute Mother’s Day gift.

The Arlington High School Art Festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, in the Byrnes Performing Arts Center.

Attendees will have a chance to purchase student art and glass work, listen to live music and chow down on pastries from the school’s French club, among other activities, said Bev Schatz, fine arts department leader and event organizer.

“It’s kind of a combination of all things,” Schatz said.

The art festival coincides with the high school’s FFA plant sale, an event that runs from 3-6 p.m. on April 29-30 and May 7 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 1 and May 8. The plant sale will be held at the school’s greenhouse, located at the southeast corner of the building.

“We always do it the same weekend as the plant sale,” Schatz said. “It’s the weekend before Mother’s Day, so it’s a perfect way to shop for mothers.”

Arlington High School is located at 18821 Crown Ridge Blvd. and can be reached at 360-618-6300.
