ARLINGTON – The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team recovered the body of a 21 year-old Granite Falls man from an island in South Fork of the Stillaguamish River Wednesday, July 15.

The man was reported to be unresponsive and floating in a shallow part of the river via a 9-1-1 call around 6 p.m., sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said. Aid arrived and began administering CPR.  The dive team arrived a short time later and moved the man from the island to the banks of the river.

Drugs are believed to have been a contributing factor in his death, but cause, manner and identification are pending from the Medical Examiner’s Office, Ireton said.
