SMOKEY POINT — A level 3 sex offender, Eric Eugene Hartwell left his registered address at 18800 block of Smokey Point Blvd. in Arlington Friday, March 20 after removing his electronic monitoring device and now the Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating him. Hartwell is wanted for failure to register as a sex offender. He had until 5 p.m. March 24 to register with the Sheriff’s Office and when he failed to do so a warrant for his arrest was issued.
Hartwell is white, six-feet two-inches tall, weighs 200 pounds and has blue eyes.
Hartwell pled guilty for rape of a child in the first degree in 1991. He was given a term of 78 months that was suspended by the courts and he was required to complete treatment. In Sept.1996 Hartwell attempted to sexually assault a 17-year-old female who was unknown to him. Hartwell was given a term of 51 months in prison for that crime. Hartwell was arrested in Jan. 2007, for failing to register. He was released from jail again in Feb. 2007 and fled the state. He was located in California and extradited back to Washington. In Dec. 2007 he pled guilty to the crime of failure to register again and was given 26 months in prison.
Currently he is on active supervision with the Marysville Department of Corrections (360-658-2150).
Detectives say Hartwell is considered likely to re-offend. Anyone with information about his location is asked to call 911.
