OSO — A group of Oso community members have announced a meeting to discuss the Oso Community Center will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23 at the Oso Firehall.
Shari Forsman is working with Gail Moffett to reorganize the facility’s management.
“We just want to find out what the community wants,” Forsman said that the former managing association had not maintained its documentation with the state and it is now available for reorganization. She was in the process of seeking information on the nonprofit organization to apply for a grant when she discovered the state had closed the corporation in 1979, after no reports had been filed since it was established in 1977.
“At the meeting we will present both sides and ask the community to make their choice,” Forsman said.
“Our goal is to put the schoolhouse back into the hands of the community,” she added.
Moffett, who has been active with the volunteer fire department as well as the fire district auxiliary, said her goal is to make the old school house more accessible to the community.
“I don’t want any hard feelings. I just want to see the building being used,” Moffett said.
