Downtown Arlington stages ‘Holiday Open House and Snowman Rendezvous’ Nov. 5

ARLINGTON — On Saturday, Nov. 5, the Downtown Arlington Business Association's "Holiday Open House and Snowman Rendezvous" will run from 4-8 p.m. David Boulton of Flowers By George is chairing this year's event, and he explained that DABA has worked out special prices on lights, so that businesses can either freshen up the ones they already have or order new strands, as part of DABA's vision that each business will be lit up brightly enough from November through December to send the message, "The lights are on and we're open for business."

ARLINGTON — On Saturday, Nov. 5, the Downtown Arlington Business Association’s “Holiday Open House and Snowman Rendezvous” will run from 4-8 p.m.

David Boulton of Flowers By George is chairing this year’s event, and he explained that DABA has worked out special prices on lights, so that businesses can either freshen up the ones they already have or order new strands, as part of DABA’s vision that each business will be lit up brightly enough from November through December to send the message, “The lights are on and we’re open for business.”

DABA has also purchased TV commercial time for this event, so cameras from KVOS TV will be filming the town’s festive décor of lights and snowmen. As such, DABA is asking businesses to present their best window displays, storefronts and lights, since those visuals will air on TV through the end of the year to promote Arlington’s “Hometown Holidays.” DABA likewise hopes to see downtown stores placing luminaries on their sidewalks, to further enhance their holiday decorations.

Roaming musicians and carolers are planned to provide street-side music throughout downtown Arlington, possibly including the Legion Park Gazebo, while volunteer firefighters will serve s’mores at portable fire pits on the 300 block of Olympic Avenue.

DABA is also encouraging businesses to order their snowmen as soon as possible, since they’re in limited supply. You will not receive a snowman without pre-ordering through and making payments to DABA, which will drop off snowmen for Smokey Point businesses at the old Co-Op building on Nov. 1, and will put them up for downtown Arlington businesses on Nov. 5.

“Invite your customers to come downtown, offer them refreshments, and make it a special night to highlight your business and to show off downtown Arlington,” Boulton said. “This is a great opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to your clients for the business they bring to you. The more the merrier.”
