ARLINGTON – On Friday, Sept. 2, at approximately 6:05 p.m., Arlington Police arrested a 32-year-old Marysville man in connection with two recent robberies of local banks in Arlington.
On Sept. 2, at approximately 10:10 a.m., Arlington Police responded to the Whidbey Island Bank branch located in the 4200 block of 172nd Street NE for the report of a robbery that had just occurred. The suspect is also believed to be responsible for the Aug. 19 robbery of the Arlington branch of US Bank, located in the 17100 block of Smokey Point Blvd. In both cases, the suspect entered the bank presenting a robbery note that implied he was armed with a firearm. The suspect then fled the area on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Information received from the Arlington Walmart Loss Prevention staff provided the clues detectives needed to solve these two robberies. The suspect was located at a residence near Arlington and arrested without incident.
“The Arlington Police Department greatly appreciates the assistance from our local business community that allowed us to solve these cases so quickly,” said Arlington Police Chief Nelson Beazley.
The suspect will be booked into Snohomish County Jail on two counts of Robbery in the First Degree and two counts of Theft in the Second Degree. Robbery in the First Degree is a Class A felony, punishable by up to life in prison in a state correctional institution and/or a $50,000 fine. Theft in the Second Degree is a Class C felony, punishable by up to five years in a state correctional institution and/or a $10,000 fine.
