“The Captain” was born Feb 9, 1919 and died Oct 16, 2009. Andrews love in life was working on ships, starting at age 18 working as a mess-mate on a freighter. He became a captain in 1947 and made nine trips to the Orient piloting Liberty Ships carrying military supplies. In 1950 he enlisted in the Coast Guard and became a hull inspector retiring years later as Commander.
He married Bonny Turnbull in 1955. From 1960-1989 Andy was a Puget Sound Ship Pilot. In 1969, he & Bonny moved their family to Arlington and raised their 4 children on a farm. In his retirement he loved to read, work his land, drive his tractor and cut firewood. He was a member of the Merchant Mariners, Everett Elks, Masters, Mates & Pilots, and Nile Shriners.
He is survived by his son, Fred (Amy) daughters Alia & Quin and grandchildren, Caleb, Kimberly, Nash, Joanna & Noah. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonny and son Jonathan. Funeral on
Oct. 29, at 1:00 p.m., at Evergreen Funeral Home 4504 Broadway, Everett 98203.
