Myron Lee Townsend, 71, of Arlee, Mont., passed away at his home with his family by his side on Wednesday Aug. 8, 2007.
Myron was born on April 27, 1936 in Filer, Idaho to LeRoy and Barbara Townsend.
He graduated from high school in Franklin, Wash.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1955 and served the beginning of the Vietnam Conflict. Following his term in the service, Myron went to work and retired from the State of Washington Department of Transportation.
Myron loved life and enjoyed being with his family and friends. He loved to go ice fishing, hunting, trying to farm and was just a busy person. He and his wife Donna were building their own home also.
His parents, his first wife, Ilene Amos; two brothers and one sister preceded Myron in death.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; daughter, Debbie Lee Rumbaugh of Marysville, Wash.; son, Daniel Wayne Townsend, Sr, survives him and his wife Tammie of Vancouver, Wash.; step-daughters, Charlett Lee of Ely, Nev., Ellen Berne of Longview, Wash., Katherine (Dwane) Bergeron of Glendive, Mont.; his brothers, Dr. Gordon (May) Townsend of Carnation, Wash., Dr. Raymond (Susan) Townsend of Tulsa, Okla., Sam (Wanda) Wright of Salt Lake City, Utah; five grandchildren, Meg Rumbaugh, Danny, Michelle, Sarah and Matthew Townsend; 11 step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering was held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007 at the Arlee Senior Citizen Center in Montana and a memorial gathering will be held in Arlington, Wash. at a later date.
Memorials may be made in the name of Myron Townsend to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation at Rocky Mountain Chapter, 2280 S. Albon St., Denver, CO 80222.
Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Grogan Funeral Home & Crematory.
