Joan Wilkins, of Marysville WA, passed away at the age of 49 on Friday, August 20, 2010, after a courageous battle with MS. Joan was born on November 5, 1960, in Alabany, New York, to Allan and Margaret Kinnear. As the second youngest of six children, Joan always spoke fondly of her childhood growing up and she truly loved being part of such a large and caring family. After several moves with her family, Joan found herself in Marysville. Here she would meet the love of her life, John F. Wilkins. They were married June 27, 1983, and had an incredible journey of 27 years that brought with it what Joan said was always her biggest accomplishment, her three sons, John, Kevin, and Kyle. Some of Joan’s other accomplishments were: organizing donations for the Cocoon House with colleagues at Marysville libraries, winning a Gold Acorn award for her dedication to Shoultes PTA, and being the biggest and most positive Silvertips fan ever.
Joan will be remembered, loved and missed by her husband, John; sons, John, Kevin and Kyle; mother, Margaret Kinnear; brothers, Allan (Diane), Doug (Peggy) and Jim; sisters, Mary and Patty; and numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends. She was an incredible daughter, wife, friend, aunt, and the best mother anyone could ever ask for.
A service celebrating the amazing life Joan lived will be at 4:00 p.m., on September 4 at the Ken Baxter Senior Center, 514, Delta Ave in Marysville. For directions call 360 363-8450.
The family asks that instead of flowers please make donations to the MS society in memory of Joan.
