MARYSVILLE – Volunteers are invited to participate in a special Earth Day event to plant native trees and shrubs along Edgecomb Creek in north Marysville.

The tree planting, sponsored by the cities of Arlington and Marysville, and the Adopt-A-Stream Foundation, is set for 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, April 22 at Strawberry Fields Park, 6100 152nd St. NE. Other plantings and clean up activities are also scheduled around Arlington on Earth Day weekend, with details to be announced soon.

The event for all ages will also give participants a chance to learn more about salmon habitat and restoration efforts, Arlington Storm Water Manager Bill Blake said.

Volunteers are encouraged to dress for all weather conditions, with clothes, sturdy boots or shoes you won’t mind having get a little dirty. Plants, tools, gloves and light refreshments will be provided.
