Old Time Fiddlers

AHS 1958 Reunion

Arlington High School Class of 1958 will be holding their 50th Class Reunion on Sept. 12 – 14. Friday, Sept. 12, meet at 3 p.m. at old high school for a tour of old and new schools; 7:30 p.m. attend the Arlington/Lynnwood HS Football Game at the Edmonds Stadium. Saturday, Sept. 13, meet at the Gleneagle Country Club in Arlington. Community Day

Sept. 20, noon to 5 p.m.: Arlington Community Day, showcasing all local service groups, resources and talent we have available in the Greater Arlington Area. The day opens with the Farmers Market and farm animal petting, informational booths, sidewalk chalk art for children, bouncy house provided by local church, food and entertainment. Turn your thumb green

The Arlington Garden Club will be offering their series of Turn Your Thumb Green workshops the second Saturday of the month at the Arlington Boys and Girls Club, 18513 59th Ave. NE, Arlington, WA. 98223, 10 – 11:30 a.m., free to members, $3 for non-members.

• Oct. 11 — Patrick Carey of Hadj Designs will speak on Green Roofs. Mr. Carey trains builders, landscape architects as well other building professionals on the subject of green roofs.

• Nov. 8 — Bill Blake, from the City of Arlington, will discuss why we have a Stormwater tax, and what the plans are, plus a short piece on what you as a home owner can do for Storm Water run off.

• Dec. 13 — Arlington Garden Club members will teach members and residents how to make their own holiday wreaths. This is a very popular workshop.

• Jan. 10, 2009 — Michelle Clark, Certified Horticulturist, is a very popular speaker in Pacific Northwest gardening circles. Her topic will be Winter Gardening: Get the jump on Spring.

• Feb. 14, 2009 — AGC members Carol & Leroy Jacques will provide pictures and commentary on their trip to gardens in Italy. They previously gave a presentation on Ireland and the photography was wonderful.

• March 14, 2009 — Master Gardner Wink Cushman will discuss Ornamental Grasses for your garden.

• April 11, 2009 — This workshop is usually held in conjunction with the City of Arlington’s Arbor Day. More information will be posted on our website as this develops.

• May 9, 2009 — This will be a special presentation which will have the Arlington Garden Club hosting neighboring Garden Clubs and the Evergreen District. Our speaker will be Marianne Binetti who has traveled the world speaking on garden topics. This meeting may be held in a alternative location due to the popularity of Ms. Binetti. Information and cost will be advertised closer to the date.

The American Red Cross is looking for “real heroes,” who live or work in Snohomish County, to honor at the Real Heroes Breakfast in December. Nominees must have performed a heroic act between Oct. 6, 2007 and Oct. 6, 2008.
