Bodybuilding at BPAC

The International Natural Bodybuilding & Fitness (INBF) has announced its Washington State Natural Bodybuilding, Fitness & Figure Championships will be presented by United Fitness at the Byrnes Performing Arts Center Saturday, Aug. 9, and the public is invited to attend. Porterhouse Brewfest benefits Lincoln Theatre

The sixth annual Porterhouse Brewfest promises a selection of sizzling brews and a blues block party with 30 microbreweries from the Pacific Northwest invited to serve samples. The event is from 2-7:30 p.m., at Main & Gates streets in downtown Mount Vernon. Live music is provided by Polly O’Keary & the Rhythm Method, a 2006 nominee for best female vocalist, songwriter and bass player by the Washington Blues Society, Randy Norris & the Full Degree and The Randy Oxford Band, winner of 17 Washington Blues Society awards. All proceeds benefit the historic Lincoln Theatre in downtown Mount Vernon. Spencer Island

Pilchuck Audubon Society has announced a birding trip to Spencer Island on the Snohomish River starts at Langus Park 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12 with trip leaders Virginia Clark and Art Wait. Meet just past the shell house in Langus Park. Last August they saw wood ducks, eastern kingbirds and pileated woodpeckers. Bring a Lunch. Fresh Paint

Everett’s festival of artists at work, Fresh Paint, is August 16 & 17 and they need volunteers help to make it a success. Volunteer jobs include artist set-up and registration, parking attendants, children’s area assistant, hospitality hosts, booth monitor and clean-up. Most shifts are about 3-4 hours long. Pioneer Picnic wells oldtimers, new comers

The Stillaguamish Valley Pioneer Association wants to remind the community that the 96th annual Pioneer Picnic is on the third Sunday in August, Aug. 17 at 20722 67th Ave. NE in Arlington.

Registration starts at 10 a.m. and the potluck lunch is served at 12:30 p.m.

Taste of Washington

A benefit for Kids’ Kloset in Arlington to provide complete wardrobes for children in need twice a year, A Taste of Washington offers an evening of Washington food delights, with Washington wines, beers and food provided by local growers, to keep the crowd happy while bidding on elaborate baskets filled goodies in a silent auction from 6 – 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23. Evergreen Fair tickets and wristbands now on sale

The Evergreen State Fair has several money-saving options for patrons who want to purchase tickets and carnival wristbands early. Adult admission tickets are discounted to $7 in advance; senior citizen tickets are $6 in advance; youth tickets are $4 in advance.

Carnival wristbands, which are valid on weekday, except Labor Day, beginning at 11 a.m. are $22 in advance. For each Pay-One-Price ticket sold, the customer will receive discount coupons at the Butler Carnival ticket booths, which are valid for $1 off one large soft drink, large cotton candy or $1 off one carnival game play.

Advance tickets can be purchased at Bartell Drug Stores, Snohomish County QFC Stores, Monroe 76 on Hwy. 2, Monroe Red Barn and the SnoCope Federal Credit Union.

Registration for Lights of Christmas

Registration is now open for overnight getaway packages and dinner/dessert theater at The Lights of Christmas at Warm Beach Camp. New this year, registration is available online at www.warmbeach.com. Overnight getaway packages include accommodations in one of Warm Beach Camp’s many holiday-themed lodgings, a hot buffet breakfast and general admission to The Lights of Christmas.

Dinner theatre is a full evening of holiday entertainment and elegant dining with a six-course meal followed by the play, offered December 4-6, 11-13, 18-20, and 22-23.
