On Sunday, November 4, 2018 the Lord called James Franklin Eoff home to Heaven.
He has now been reunited with the love of his life, Peggy June, who left us on June 27, 2018. Jim stayed with us for 127 days after Peggy’s passing; he asked about his sweetie every one of those days. He sure missed her!
Jim was born in Detroit, MI on November 22, 1929. Shortly after his birth, his family returned home to Kingston, AR. When he was five, the family moved on to California.
At 18 years old, Jim joined The United States Army. He served with the 8th Infantry Regiment in Fort Ord, CA.
Jim met the love of his life, Peggy June, in El Monte, CA. They were married in the Wee Kirk of Heather Chapel in Las Vegas on November 25, 1950. They walked hand and hand in marriage for 67 loving years.
Jim and Peggy leave behind six wonderful children: James F. Eoff Jr. (Kelly), David Eoff (Kim,) Cindy LaMie (Danny), Sandra Barnier (Jeff), Susan Bauer (Scott) and Shelly Summers; 20 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and eight great, great grandchildren. Jim brightened the lives of so many with his ornery sense of humor and infectious smile. He loved all of his grandchildren young and old, and enjoyed giving them all funny nicknames. He was proud of his big family, and loved all of the parties and get togethers. He was the biggest kid of all!
Jim was a member of the Carpenters Union in California and Washington. He started out building houses and then went to mainly roofing. He roofed numerous houses in Arlington, WA, the old fashioned way, by hand! He liked to say, he figured he roofed every house in Arlington at least once!
He spent many hours a day visiting with his coffee shop buddies at Rotten Ralph’s and The Fountain Drive Inn.
Jim had a lot of animals. He loved them all, and they loved him right back! His cows were a favorite of his and had a special place in his heart.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Kate Eoff; his brother, Bobby, and his sister Dorothy.
If you would like to celebrate Jim’s life, please come and join us. The funeral will be held at the Arlington Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. There will be a reception at Pioneer Hall immediately following the service.
