Lakewood’s girls softball team are going to state after winning two games by one run each Wednesday at Janicki Fields.
One was a slugfest, the other a pitching battle.
The Cougars opened the 2A District 1/2 Tournament with a hard-fought 5-4 win over Cedarcrest.
In a semifinal game, Lakewood and Mountlake Terrace both pounded out the hits, but the Cougars came out on top 14-13.
At a result, Lakewood advances to state and plays in the championship game Friday against Sehome at 6:30 p.m.
