LAKEWOOD – The school district today announced that Scott Peacock will be its new superintendent.

Outgoing superintendent Michael Mack is retiring from the district and taking an education job in Saudi Arabia.

Peacock has served with the Snohomish School District since 1993. This past year he was promoted from assistant superintendent to deputy superintendent.

He is responsible for the oversight of the district’s Teaching and Learning Department. This past year he has assumed responsibilities for Special Education. He has nine years of district-level leadership in Snohomish and previously served as a middle school principal and assistant principal for 10 years.

He taught English and history for seven years before becoming an administrator. He is doctoral candidate at the University of Washington.

The selection followed a lengthy and thorough superintendent search conducted by Northwest Leadership Associates, which included interviews, reference checks and opportunities for staff and community feedback.

Peacock will take over July 1, pending approval of a mutually agreeable contract.
