Community Transit will adjust its schedules on July 3 in observance of Independence Day.

Because July 4 falls on a Saturday this year, government offices and most businesses are observing the holiday on Friday, July 3. As such, Community Transit will operate all its routes based on its Sunday schedules on July 3. Dial-A-Ride Transportation also will operate based on Sunday hours July 3.

There will be no commuter service July 3. Those who need commuter service can use Sound Transit routes to downtown Seattle. Also, Customer Information Services and the RideStore will be closed on July 3.

On July 4, Community Transit buses will operate on their regular Saturday schedules. The RideStore will be open during its regular hours, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Community Transit has also reminded all its passengers that fireworks of any kind are not allowed on the agency’s buses or property, including park and ride lots. Even “safe and sane” fireworks sold in some communities can be a safety hazard, according to Snohomish County Sheriff’s Sgt. Dave Sorenson, of the Transit Police Unit.

“Community Transit is committed to providing a safe ride for all of its passengers, and the public needs to help with that,” Sorenson said. “Following the rules and not bringing fireworks or other hazardous products on buses helps keep everyone safe.”

In addition to fireworks, Community Transit also does not allow the following:

– Fuels such as gasoline, diesel and propane, or containers that once carried those fuels.

– Hazardous chemicals.

– Explosives.

– Illegal weapons.
