Arlington police name their Employee of the Year

ARLINGTON – From redesigning the Arlington Police Department’s K9 program to training officers on the New World dispatch and records management system, Officer Seth Kinney has had a busy and successful 2015.

ARLINGTON – From redesigning the Arlington Police Department’s K9 program to training officers on the New World dispatch and records management system, Officer Seth Kinney has had a busy and successful 2015.

For his efforts, he has been named the department’s Employee of the Year.

The department recognized more than 30 employees, volunteers and citizens at its annual awards ceremony in December.

Arlington police also recognized two citizens for their dedication to the city’s “All In” crime prevention campaign.

Kimberly Casteel was recognized for her efforts to promote a closer, personal relationship with police through a variety of venues. Sandra Matthews was recognized for her reporting of suspicious activity in her neighborhood on Nov. 24, which directly led to the arrest of two residential burglary suspects.

Other volunteers also were honored: Yvonne Hoover and Ray Coleman were recognized for providing statistical analysis and crime trends to the department. Rich Stommel was recognized for his efforts to start a Citizen Volunteer Patrol program. Judy Ness was recognized for her efforts to start the city’s

Pooch Patrol.

Others honored included:

Oso Award: Awarded to any police department employee who directly responded to, assisted in recovery efforts, helped with evacuation efforts, established the Emergency Operations Center, or provided security in direct response to the Oso Landslide of March 22, 2014.

POTUS Award: Awarded to any police department employee who worked directly with the U.S. Secret Service or provided security during the April 2014 visit of President Obama to the Oso Landslide.

Marysville-Pilchuck Award: Awarded to any police department employee who directly responded to Marysville-Pilchuck High School on October 24, 2014, for the report of an active shooting.

Chief’s DUI Award: Awarded for efforts to reduce traffic collisions resulting in injury or death through diligent enforcement of DUI laws.

Chief’s Traffic Enforcement: Awarded for efforts to increase public safety on the streets and highways through the use of enforcement and education in addressing dangerous behaviors that compromise traffic safety.

Letter of Commendation: Awarded for ensuring a successful transition to the New World dispatch and records management system by Arlington police.
