ARLINGTON — Penny pinchers rejoice.
In early September, a Dollar Tree will be opening up in Arlington.
According to company officials, the discount variety store that sells all items for one dollar or less will be located at 3704 172nd Street NE, near the Smokey Point Safeway.
The approximately 9,000-square-foot store will bring between 10-12 full-time jobs to the city.
“Dollar Tree continues to grow and is proud to be part of the Arlington community,” said Chelle Davis, Dollar Tree spokesperson.
Dollar Tree operates more than 3,800 stores in 48 states, and has stores in Marysville, Lake Stevens, Everett.
The announcement of the new retail store comes in wake of two other major construction projects in the Smokey Point area.
Across the street, owners from Seattle-based All-Star Fitness are currently renovating the old Food Pavilion building at 17020 Smokey Point Boulevard and developers plan to have the space open to tenants by late spring.
John van Rensburg, project manager for developer Gateway Partner, said he’s looking for national chains to move into the building, which has been vacant since 2005.
Just east on 172nd Street NE, crews are constructing a 152,492-square-foot Walmart, which will be home to approximately 300 employees.
A grand opening for the store is scheduled for late fall.
