Deputy hurt, horse killed in Arlington accident

ARLINGTON — A sheriff’s deputy sustained minor injuries late Sunday night after his patrol car struck and killed a horse that got loose and was on the road.

ARLINGTON — A sheriff’s deputy sustained minor injuries late Sunday night after his patrol car struck and killed a horse that got loose and was on the road.

The patrol car was damaged beyond repair.

The deputy was on duty and en route to a domestic violence call around midnight when the accident occurred in the 3900 block of Stanwood Bryant Road, sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.

The public works department was called to help remove the horse.

The deputy has been with the sheriff’s office since 2007. He was taken to a local hospital and later released. He is on leave to recover from his injuries.
