ARLINGTON — On June 7, the City Council could approve a project at Arlington Municipal Airport that would seal small cracks on one of the its runways.

The project would involve crack sealing, slurry sealing and re-striping of the airport’s crosswind runway. If approved, construction could begin shortly after the Arlington Fly-In concludes in July.

Airport officials are requesting $124,741.77 for the project, which was in the 2010 city budget.

Up to 50 percent of those construction costs will be covered by a WSDOT grant the airport has received, according to a city memo.

Blackline, Inc., of Spokane is scheduled to complete the project.

Project engineering will be done by W H Pacific of Bothell.

The City Council could also approve spending $57,766.12 to demolish and replace the Round House Barn, which was damaged in the January 2009 snow storm.

Costs for the project will be reimbursed by FEMA, but those funds must be spent by September.

The barn is located in Snohomish County jurisdiction, according to a city memo, so city officials must go through the necessary permitting process.

The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the City Council Chambers (110 E. Third Street, Arlington).
