MARYSVILLE — After team losses earlier in the week — a narrow one to Everett and a bruising to Lake Stevens — the Arlington wrestling team visited the M-P Premier, getting a look at regional and upcoming competition.
ARLINGTON — Well, they’re not there yet.
Short-staffed, the Grace Academy girls basketball team enjoyed the first lead of their game at Highland Christian.
Although girls wrestling is a phenomenon unto itself in Skagit County — wrestling stalwarts Burlington-Edison alone fielded 42 girls — the Lakewood contingent of 12 girls represented Snohomish County ably at the Sedro-Woolley girls invite.
Their comeback had been too little, too late against Meadowdale.
EVERETT — Every great team and athlete shows progress as the season continues.
ARLINGTON — The Arlington girls basketball team proved there’s more than one way to win a game.
STANWOOD — It was scrappy and at times a little sloppy, but the Tomahawk girls basketball took care of business, cleaning up at Stanwood and recording another win.
TULALIP — The Tulalip Heritage basketball team led 16-7 by the end of the first quarter, but the Hawks were too wise to be excited.
TULALIP — When the Marysville School District chose to dedicate the new gymnasium on the Tulalip Heritage campus, it was no accident that they chose to schedule the ceremony for a league basketball game between Lummi and Tulalip Heritage.
Lakewood girls have been at the forefront of the burgeoning girls wrestling program in Washington.
LAKEWOOD — A nine-point run by the Lakewood boys basketball team gave the Cougars a short-lived lead as they hosted Lambrick Park.
LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood girls had a 14-2 lead by the end of the first quarter. Things never got much easier for the visiting Fife basketball team after that.
