ARLINGTON — Arlington Airport businesses and pilots will celebrate the women of aviation by doing their part to get more women into aviation.

Out of the Blue Aviation will commemorate International Women of Aviation Week with a free talk by professional pilot Karlene Petitt at 5 p.m. on March 11, followed by free plane rides to women and girls starting at 9:30 a.m. on March 12.

“This is a great chance for girls and women who have never had the opportunity to fly in a small aircraft to give aviation a try,” said Cathy Mighell, owner of Out of the Blue Aviation. “The activities will be all day Saturday, with the NASA restaurant offering special lunch and dinner menus on Friday and Saturday.”

Petitt will be speaking about the power to accomplish anything. Refreshments will be served at her talk, and RSVPs are requested. Helicopter rides will also be available the following day, at a small cost. There will be drawings for prizes as well. Please call 360-474-1060 or log onto www.outoftheblueaviation.com for more information.

Out of the Blue Aviation is located at 18306 59th Dr. NE in Arlington.
