MARYSVILLE – The former K mart building in Marysville has a new tenant.
Coastal Farm recently finished renovations and moved in, hiring more than 40 local employees.
The store’s grand opening ceremony in early March will include a ribbon cutting, local FFA and 4H fundraisers, high school bands and cheerleaders, over $15,000 in prizes and a community barbecue.
Coastal operates 17 stores across Washington and Oregon and is one of the largest farm and ranch companies in the Northwest. “We’ve been expanding into the Western Washington market for the past half-dozen years and have been looking for the right opportunity in the Marysville area for the past few years,” operations manager Byron Baule said. “What makes Marysville so attractive, is that the city and surrounding area are a unique combination of a thriving farm and rural community, balanced with a strong urban center. We’re excited about the current environment and future growth of the Marysville market,” Baule said.
The new Coastal store carries over 50,000 products. The store includes a main sales floor area of over 50,000 square feet, along with an additional 20,000 square foot yard with fencing, livestock handling and other equipment.
About one-third of the store is clothing; one-third a combination of hardware, tools, welding, heating and automotive; and one-third animal health, farm equipment, tack, feed and supplements.
The new Marysville store also features sporting goods with guns, ammo, hunting, fishing and camping supplies.
The store’s Hearth & Home Department features 24 working stoves and fireplaces.
There are men’s, women’s and children’s clothing departments, and 2,000 pairs of boots.
Dog, cat, horse, chicken and cow owners will find an animal health department for animals of all sizes. There also is a large tack and grooming department with saddles, bridles and riding supplies.
