MARYSVILLE – The Greater Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce’s only Lifetime Member, John Wolcott, has died.
Wolcott was a member of the chamber since 1991 and was recognized for his publishing, editing and journalism partnership with the Chamber as it grew over the years. He always could be counted on to provide well-reasoned, sound advice concerning the Marysville-Tulalip business community, particularly for items relating to small businesses, a chamber news release says.
Wolcott was The Daily Herald in Everett’s business editor from 1968-1980. He later joined the Snohomish County Business Journal as a writer and then editor for more than a decade.
In 2010 he retired to start his own freelance writing business, Features Northwest. He was a board member of Pregnancy Aid in Snohomish County for many years, along with being involved in other local efforts.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta, son, Jim (wife Kari, and grandsons Brandin and Blake) and daughter, Teresa (husband, Pat, grandson, Declan, and granddaughter, Cailin).
Wolcott’s viewing will be Wednesday, Sept. 6, from 5-7 p.m. at Schaffer-Shipman Funeral Home, 804 State Ave., Marysville.
His Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, Sept. 7, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 4200 88th St. NE, Marysville.
