Marysville-Pilchuck High School bands will present their 2009 spring concert at 7 p.m., on Thursday, May 28 in the M-PHS auditorium. “We will celebrate the great country that we call home with songs such as John Higgins’ arrangement of “The Spangled Banner,” Robert W. Smith’s beautiful musical tribute “Inchon” to the battle in Korea, John Phillip Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever” and much, much more, said band director John Rants.

Northern Sound Girls Choir concert

Twenty-four young ladies ages 12-18 of the Northern Sound Girls Advanced Choir, will present its 7th annual spring concert at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 28 at the New View Church, 8028 272nd St. NW in Stanwood. A warm up for an upcoming Vancouver B.C. tour, the concert will include a variety of sacred, folk, international and barbershop vocal jazz selections and a choreographed review of the Best of the Wizard of Oz, said the choir director, Stuart Hunt. Auditions are planned for new singers, 4 – 7 p.m., June 4 at the Stanwood Library conference room. Each 15-minute audition will include families with information to plan for a major tour next year. “We’ve received an invitation to sing at Carnegie Hall and to sing at a choral festival in Wales, but we have plenty of West Coast options as well,” Hunt said. Lakewood concert

Cougar Creek band and choir will join English Crossing band and choir to present a final concert for the school year at 7 p.m., June 2 in the Cougar Creek Multipurpose Room, according to band director Susan Lind. They will perform one of the band’s favorite arrangements, “Trumpet Voluntary” and “Oh, Susanna!,” as sung and performed by the choir. “There will be a great variety of music including conga drums, bells and recorders,” Lind said. All participants will join together in the final piece, “Theme from Symphony No. 9” by Beethoven.

LHS choir concert

The Lakewood High School spring choir concert starts at 7 p.m., June 1 in the high school theater and the LHS spring band concert will start at 7 p.m., June 4 in the LHS theater.

Walk-n-Roll

The Arlington Runners Club presents Walk & Roll at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 30, to benefit Eagle Wings disAbility Ministries. Walkers, runners and rollers of all ages are welcome to join the 5K and 10K run, or walk, starting at Haller Park, 1100 West Ave. in Arlington.
