Free stream surveys
The Adopt-A-Stream Foundation is offering to survey the status of Quilceda Creek, and other damaged streams in the region, and a meeting is set for 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 23 at the Marysville Fire District Training Room, 1635 Grove Street, Marysville. Quilceda Creek flows through the Urban Growth Area between Arlington and Marysville into the Snohomish River.
The surveys will explore ways of improving salmon habitat and water quality. After the survey is complete AASF will prepare an enhancement plan and work in partnership with the landowner to find resources to fix any problems discovered. Talent show
in Darrington
The Darrington Community is having a Talent/Variety Show 7 p.m., Friday, April 25 in the High School Multi-Purpose Room. Admission is by donation at the door to help subsidize the 2008 Prom and help make it affordable to all.

Rapid Intervention Drags
Law enforcement will compete against firefighters/EMTs drag racing their personal vehicles in a fierce but friendly competition to RID society of domestic violence, Friday, April 25, from 6-10 p.m. at Evergreen Speedway at the Monroe Fairgrounds. Along with the racing, there will be vendors, informational booths, exhibits and a beer garden. Admission is $10 at the gate, kids 14 and under are FREE. Old Time Fiddlers
The Old Time Fiddlers meets on the second and fourth Friday evenings each month, the next meeting is April 25 at the old Arlington High School, 135 S. French St., Arlington.

Auditions
Shakespeare Northwest in Bellingham is pleased to announce auditions for its seventh season featuring Shakespearem “All is Well That Ends Well” and “The Merchant of Venice.” A two-minute prepared Shakespearian monologue should be prepared. Auditions will be held 3-6 p.m., Saturday, April 26 at the Bellingham Theatre Guild, 1600 H Street, in Bellingham and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, April 27 in the Philip Tarro Theatre in Hodson Hall at Skagit Valley College, 2405 E. Taste of Decadence
The sixth annual Taste of Decadence fundraiser on May 2 in Arlington. Volunteer for a 2-5 hour time-frame according to your availability and schedule. Volunteer jobs include table host, decorating, silent auction set up, dessert check in, and clean up. Proceeds from the event will help north Snohomish County adults who have disabilities achieve their highest potential at home, work, and in community life. Opportunities for artists
• The coordinator of the Arlington Arts Council’s fourth annual Art in the Barn has announced the limited space is going fast and the spaces are alotted on a first-come, first-served basis.
“There is space outside the barn, but you will have to provide your own shelters, as well as whatever else it takes to display your work,” said Monica Yantis, the owner of the barn and host for the show.
Booth fees are $25 for AAC members and $40 for non-members.

Client appreciation day
Everett Community College’s cosmetology program has announced a client appreciation day and open house from 1 – 5 p.m. April 30 at the EvCC School of Cosmetology in Marysville, 9315 State Ave., Suite G. The school offers a certificate in cosmetology and an associate of technical arts degree. Students can attend full-time or part time. Students will be thanking clients with a selection of complementary mini services, retail specials, demonstrations, refreshments and school tours.
The School of Cosmetology also offers a wide variety of salon services to the public, including a $25 spa package, which includes a manicure, pedicure and facial.EvCC cosmetology graduates must complete at least 1,730 hours of classes, in preparation for state cosmetology licensing exams.
