Call for garden art
May 30 is the deadline to enter art for the Arts Council of Snohomish County’s Art of the Garden, which will run July 10 – Aug. 21. Any form of art to enhance the garden and bring the garden into the home is welcome, including paintings, photographs and sculpture. Artists may submit up to 12 slides or digital images, labeled with name, title and dimensions. Digital jpeg images should be 300 dpi, approximately 5- by 7-inch format. Locally-grown
composers
A quintet of brass musicians from Arlington to Skagit Valley, Brass Menagerie, will perform music composed by local composers, including Arlington High School student Eric McElroy and AHS Spanish teacher Bob LaTorre as well as George Hoyt, a friend of Bev Soler, one of the musicians in the group, and Barry Ulman, of Bellingham. The quintet will present a concert starting at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 31 at the Bethany Covenant Church, 1318 S. 18th St., in Mount Vernon. Admission is by donation at the door. The Odd Couple, female version
Camwood Players’ spring show, “The Odd Couple, Female Version” runs through May 31 at the Stillaguamish Grange, with shows starting at 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday.
A dinner theater option is available for Saturday night with dinner served at 7 p.m.
“The Odd Couple” is by Neil Simon and this version features a female cast. Olive, played by Patti Sands, is the happy slob whose life is disrupted by the arrival of her neat freak friend Florence, played by Julie Sterling.

Farmers’ markets
• Arlington Farmers Market opens Saturday, May 31 in Legion Park in downtown Arlington and will continue through September, open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., every Saturday. The farmers market is coordinated by Mark Lovejoy, of Garden Treasures, with vendors of fresh produce, flowers, crafts, prepared food and entertainment encouraged to participate. • The Haller Point Market at The Village Store, 604 E. Gilman St. in Arlington runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays through Oct. 5.
