ARLINGTON — The Arlington Library, located at 135 N. Washington Ave., has a full calendar of events scheduled for the month of September.
Thursdays at 7 p.m. from Sept. 8-29 will be set aside for the Ready Readers’ Pajama Preschool Storytime, so that youngsters can put on their jammies, grab their favorite stuffed animals and come to the Library to share stories, songs and rhymes for the whole family.
Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 10 and 24 will be reserved for the Ready Readers’ Saturday Preschool Storytime, during which families will be able to help children from ages 2-5 get ready to read with stories, songs and rhymes.
Caregivers are required for both of the Ready Readers programs, which are supported by the Friends of the Arlington Library.
Early Learning Resources kick off “Every Child Ready to Read and Rock” on Monday, Sept. 26, at 10:30 a.m. Musician Caspar Babypants will sing interactive songs that promote Ready Readers skills, and families will discover new ways to reinforce early literacy. This program is funded by the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation.
Moving on to more adult fare, “Chopped: A Library Foodie Competition” will take place Thursday, Sept. 15, at 3 p.m. This program, supported by the Friends of the Arlington Library, teaches attendees how to take ordinary, everyday foods and create dishes designed to impress judges.
The Arlington Book Group meets Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. to discuss “Girl With a Pearl Earring” by Tracy Chevalier, while the Friends of the Library welcome newcomers to their monthly meeting on the second Wednesday of the month, Sept. 14, at 3:30 p.m.
Those looking to learn basic computer skills in a supportive environment can attend Computer Basics 1 on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 8:45 a.m., but class size is limited so preregistration is required.
