Habitat for Humanimals

One of the important elements to quality of life in Arlington is our close proximity to the rivers, forests and wildlife.

During four evenings, Bill Blake, Arlington’s Natural Resource Manager, and other guest speakers will present this educational series discussing the area’s streams, wetlands, geology, plants, animals, and fish.  We also will examine the regulations and policies that guide us to a sustainable future. The third evening will be a field trip outdoor laboratory. For adults and children over 13 accompanied by an adult.

Basic First Aid Classes

Participants learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of injuries and sudden illness. Crucial information about how to deal with emergencies. Certified Instructor.  Renew your existing certification or become First Aid Certified. OSHA, WISHA, L&I, and DSHS approved. For adults and youth ages 12 and older.

Fee: $30 reduced to $25 if taking CPR class.

CPR and AED for the Community and Workplace

This course teaches the chain of survival, activation of 911, emergency response, airway obstruction and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Also discusses information on adult heart attacks and strokes. AED certification included. This basic certification conforms to new 2010 national standards and is based on the same scientific guidelines and treatment recommendations used by the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. For adults and youth 12 & older.

Raising Herbs and How to Use Them

Presented by the Arlington Garden Club. In this free class, Master Gardner and herb buyer, Kathy Reed will explain how to grow herbs successfully.  She we share recipes and ways of cooking with herbs.

Cooking Up Culture — Cooking classes for kids age 5-12

Kids will take a culinary journey around the world.  Each 3 hour class will explore the culture and food of a different country, teaching kids various cooking methods, measuring and mixing techniques, how to use various cooking tools, how to follow recipes, etiquette, and more.

Pilates for the Equestrian Rider

Learn to use the body and mind together to deepen your riding skills regardless of your riding style or experience. This mat Pilates based program is geared specifically to the rider. The focus will be on developing and maintaining proper form and alignment through building a strong core.

Basic Yoga

Lengthen, strengthen and relieve stress the yoga way. Move your body in this gentle but active and relaxing way.  All levels welcome.

Fit for Life

This low impact cardio class with easy to follow moves keeps your brain in the game. Strength training exercises and stretching are also included.  All levels welcome.

TRX Suspension Training Classes

Make your body your machine. The TRX is a set of nylon straps that create resistance from two sources: bodyweight and gravity. This method of training includes exercises that build power, strength, flexibility, and balance. Very effective in engaging the core muscles in every exercise. Adaptable for all levels.

Fee: $99 for 30 minute class two times a week per session

Self Defense/Personal Safety Class

This self-defense/safety class will teach you how to minimize your safety risk, size up a situation and decide what you should do in the event of an attack. More info at www.zumbachangeslives.com (Classes & Events tab). This class will give you a chance to practice these hands on defense tactics, moves and skills. Come at 8 p.m. to complete instructor’s waiver form. You must be 18 years of age or older to sign the waiver to participate in class. If you are under 18 you must have a parent/legal guardian signature. Waiver can be printed at www.zumbachangeslives.com (Resources tab). You may pay at the class.
