MacKechnie to demonstrate at GMAG meeting
The Greater Marysville Artists Guild announced a special guest demonstration by Joe MacKechnie who works in graphite, ink, pastel, oil and watercolor at its monthly meeting starting at 6:30 p.m., Nov. 5, in the barn at Jennings Park in Marysville. MacKechnie grew up in Washington, graduated from the University of Washington, and since his retirement, has pursued a career in fine art. His goal in art is “to isolate, depict and capture the essence of a subject. I seek qualities that are elusive, difficult to discover and portray. Painting for me is about sharing my view as I witness and savor the visual moment.”
Bazaars
• Handmade treasures, baked goods, jams and jellies, second-hand stuff and raffles of a homemade quilt and local artist watercolor to name just a few of the raffle items), are up for grabs at the annual holiday bazaar and bake sale presented by the women’s group of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8 in the church social hall, at 1200 East 5th St. in Arlington. • To raise money for food baskets for the needy during the holidays, Faith Lutheran Church of Lakewood has announced it annual holiday bazaar with sewing, woodworking and gardening crafts and baked goods from

Bronn Journey to perform at BPAC
The Arlington Rotary Club has announced a concert for the community with harpist Bronn Journey on Thursday, Nov. 20 at the Byrnes Performing Arts Center at the Arlington High School, 18821 Crown Ridge Blvd. A portion of the proceeds will go to help the community during the Thanksgiving season. Tickets are $15, available from Rotary members, at Copy Mail and More and at Flowers by George in downtown Arlington. Food donations will be collected for the food bank. Glass art for the holidays
Marysville artist Bob Mitchell joins Callahan McVay, Jesse Nelson, Rich Langley, Bob Hoverter, Cheri O’Brien, Tina Furman and Janet Foley in a Holiday Art Glass Show at Lowell Art Works from 1 – 8 p.m. Nov. 8 with an artist reception from 6 – 8 p.m. The show continues from 1 – 4 p.m. Nov. 9 in the Historic SoLo district of Everett. The glass show is in the newest art venue in the old brick Plumbers and Fitters Union Hall in Lowell and in the Lowell Art Works building 15 other artists working in oil, acrylic, encaustic, papier mache etc.
