ARLINGTON — Beginning in August, low-income families will have a new choice of where to go for health care. Community Health Centers of Snohomish County will be opening a clinic next to Cascade Valley Hospital at 326 Stillaguamish Ave. in Arlington.

Each year, the Health Resources and Services Administration determines the number of low-income people in each service area. Community Health Centers report annually to HRSA the number of patients they serve in each area. Matching this data today reveals that 6,000 adults and children from low-income homes in the Arlington ZIP code area are not receiving primary health care. Additionally, the neighboring cities of Stanwood and Darrington are among the cities in Snohomish County with the highest numbers of unserved households.

The CHC Arlington Clinic will welcome patients with Medicaid, Medicare, Healthy Options and TRICARE. They will also offer a discounted fee program, based on family income and family size.

Services that will be available at the clinic include:

• Family medicine.

• Internal medicine.

• Chronic disease management.

• Diabetes care.

• Immunization.

• Well child check.

• Behavioral health.

• Dental.

• Laboratory.

• Pharmacy (for CHC patients).

Interpreters will also be available.

“Currently, low-income families need to travel to our clinic in Everett, or to Sea Mar in Mount Vernon or Marysville,” said Bob Farrell, CEO of the CHC. “That can be tough when adequate transportation is already an issue, and in 2014, there will be 25,000 additional county residents eligible for health care coverage. Community Health Centers are expanding to help meet both needs.”
