‘Country Chainsaw Carvers’ return to Arlington Aug. 12-13

ARLINGTON — Legion Park will be the site for chainsaw carving, a wedding and the taping of a Discovery Channel show on Aug. 12, and Arlington chainsaw carver Debbie Anderson is part of all three. The Discovery Channel got in touch with Anderson after reading about her in The Arlington Times, and Anderson expressed pride in the fact that a number of the chainsaw carvers taking part in the Aug. 12-13 event in Legion Park have already been taped for the channel's upcoming nine-part "Sawdogs" series.

ARLINGTON — Legion Park will be the site for chainsaw carving, a wedding and the taping of a Discovery Channel show on Aug. 12, and Arlington chainsaw carver Debbie Anderson is part of all three.

“I’m getting married,” said Anderson, who started the “Country Chainsaw Carvers” event at last year’s “Community Day” in Arlington. At the same time, we’ll have about 20-25 chainsaw carvers on site, and I’m 95 percent sure that the Discovery Channel will be there to tape their ‘Sawdogs’ show.”

The Discovery Channel got in touch with Anderson after reading about her in The Arlington Times, and Anderson expressed pride in the fact that a number of the chainsaw carvers taking part in the Aug. 12-13 event in Legion Park have already been taped for the channel’s upcoming nine-part “Sawdogs” series.

“We have two world champion carvers,” Anderson said. “They’re all the best of the best. It’s a pretty big deal.”

Anderson has staged multiple chainsaw carving events in the local area since last September’s Community Day, and she looks forward to continuing the events as she moves into her new studio, just north of the Arlington Dwayne Lane dealership on State Route 9.

“With more carvers and more space than last year, we’re hoping for an even bigger feel,” Anderson said. “Since the Stillaguamish Festival of the River is that same weekend, we’re hoping to attract the same crowds.”

The “Country Chainsaw Carvers” event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 12 and 13 in Legion Park. Anderson’s wedding to Dave Tremko will kick off at 5 p.m. on Aug. 12.
