‘Fall Into Art’ raises funds for more art in Arlington on Oct. 15

SMOKEY POINT — Live music, kayaking and flight are among the adventures that will be auctioned off at the ninth annual "Fall Into Art" auction on Saturday, Oct. 15. This will accompany an assortment of original art and an evening of festivities to benefit the Arlington Arts Council's mission to bring more art to Arlington.

This will accompany an assortment of original art and an evening of festivities to benefit the Arlington Arts Council’s mission to bring more art to Arlington.

Gayle Pickens, owner of “Gallery by the Bay” in Stanwood, will speak on the value of art in building community, and the 2011 Art Advocate of the Year will be announced.

Music is set to be provided by “The Curators,” featuring Jeff and Laurie Swanson, Jim Bassett and Ron Thordarson, who will play during the two silent auctions, from 5:30-7 p.m.

An “early bird special,” for those who arrive before 6 p.m., will include one chance to win $100 to Bistro San Martin, as well as one glass of champagne.

The two silent auctions and the live auction will offer art and artistic opportunities of many kinds, including glass art classes and a beauty basket with a manicure, hairdo and facial, as well as massages, yoga lessons, theater tickets, an overnight stay at the Mayflower Park Hotel in Seattle with theater tickets, a granite sculpture by Verena Schwippert, pottery by Marguerite Goff and Yonnah Ben Levy, a family portrait by Debora Nelson of Photographic Journeys, a hand-felted cowboy hat by Erika Bruss and Kristinia Hebert, a hand-carved pochard duck, a bread board made of an old wine barrel, and various photographs and paintings made by AAC members and friends.

The auction will take place at the Medallion Hotel, located at 16710 Smokey Point Blvd. The buffet dinner will include beef and salmon with a spread of salads and vegetables.
