ARLINGTON — An award-winning jazz choir racked up a few more awards Nov. 14 to add to their collection.

Arlington High School jazz choir Jazzmine took home three outstanding vocalist awards, and the choir was also one of three jazz choirs to be invited to play the evening show at the Olympic College Jazz Classic Festival.

Students Kati Couch, Karissa Gray and Kena McClure each won an outstanding vocalist award.

The Olympic jazz festival took place in Bremerton.

The jazz choir, made up of 28 Arlington High School students, competes in a number of regional, state and national competitions each year, said Bill Kmet, parent of senior choir member Brennan Kmet.

Director Lyle Forde heads up the high school choir.

Jazzmine’s next performance will be Dec. 2 at Providence General Foundation Festival of Trees in Portland, Ore., followed by a performance Dec. 10 at the Warm Beach Lights of Christmas.

“Everybody who comes out to a performance is blown away,” Kmet said.
