ARLINGTON — A musical group that plays country music from a variety of countries will soon bring their talents to the Byrnes Performing Arts Center.

Marley’s Ghost, which performs cajun, reggae, Celtic and American country and rock ‘n’ roll — basically anything acoustic — are performing at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 16.

The band will be playing some music from its newest album, “Ghost Town,” which was recorded in Arlington

One of the band members, Ed Littlefield Jr., owns Sage Arts Studio in Arlington, where that album was recorded.

The band has been making music together for more than 22 years. During that time, they have recorded nine albums and performed thousands of shows across the United States.

Many of the band’s musicians started playing as teens in the 1960s.

The concert is partially funded by the city of Arlington’s lodging tax grant.

Proceeds from the performance will help the Arlington Arts Council pay for public art. A portion of those proceeds will also help reproduce original art banners painted by council members for hanging on light posts around Arlington, as well as fund more concerts.

Opening for Marley’s Ghost is the Jazzmine Quartet — four Arlington High School singers — made up of Justin Goheen, Brennan Kmet, Dylan McFadden and Jordan Tanquay.
