Production of ‘Nunsense’ coming to Arlington

A musical comedy will soon be coming to the Byrnes Performing Arts Center.

ARLINGTON — A musical comedy will soon be coming to the Byrnes Performing Arts Center.

“Nunsense,” the long-running Broadway show featuring five Little Sisters of Hoboken, will be taking place at 2 p.m. on Jan. 16.

The show is presented by Last Leaf Productions in cooperation with the city of Arlington and the Arlington Arts Council.

The production originally opened in 1985 and was directed by Dan Groggin. The story follows five Little Sisters of Hoboken who are desperate to raise funds to bury four of their sisters.

They eventually decided to hold a talent show to raise the needed funds.

“This interactive and energetic show is filled with songs and ‘habit’ humor from beginning to end,” said Patricia Haines-Ainsworth of Last Leaf Productions.

Tickets are available from the Arlington Lions Club or at Flowers by George at 335 N. Olympic Avenue, Cinderella Beauty Salon at 108 West Fifth Street or at Arlington Copy, Mail & More at 526 Northwest Avenue.

Advance tickets are $10 adult and $5 student. At the door they are $12 adult or $6 student.

“(Last Leaf) is excited to bring this full-length comedy to the BPAC next month,” Haines-Ainsworth said. “The production played to rave reviews and sold out audiences at Basil and Chives dinner theatre in Monroe last month and is currently re-working the production for the Arlington stage.”
