ARLINGTON — The Stillaguamish Valley Genealogical Society will be presenting programs to pique the curiosity of area history buffs and other community members this March.

On Saturday, March 10, the Genealogy Society will host an open house at its new location at 215 S. French Ave. in Arlington, next to the former Arlington High School building, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visitors are invited to check out the Society’s library and extensive collection of materials from the region and throughout the United States.

“You can access the world, with help from librarians on site to find your family roots,” said Shirley Case, publicity chair of the Stillaguamish Valley Genealogical Society.

Refreshments will be provided, and parking is available on the street and in the large lot at the intersection of First Street and French Avenue. Please call 360-435-4838 for handicapped parking or for directions.

On Tuesday, March 13, from 1-2 p.m., Jerry Magelssen will present part of his collection of photographic records of many of the barns in Arlington, Stanwood, Camano Island and the surrounding area at the Stillaguamish Valley Pioneer Hall in Arlington.

“Magelssen is well known in the area for his interest in these historic barns, some of which are more than 100 years old, and some that no longer even exist,” Case said.

This event is being co-sponsored by the Stillaguamish Valley Pioneer Museum and the Stillaguamish Valley Genealogical Society. The presentation will be free and refreshments will be served here as well. Once again, please call 360-435-4838 if you need more information.
