ARLINGTON — The “Voices of the Village” band is presenting its second annual Arlington Hometown Halloween concert and costume concert from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Linda M. Byrnes Performing Arts Center.

Nationally recognized motivational speaker Larry Ransom will be selling copies of his book, and 100 percent of the proceeds from sales of the book and tickets to the event itself — $10 per person or $35 for the whole family — will go to benefit Voices of the Village and other music and arts programs by Village Community Services.

Ransom, president and founder of The Synergy Network, will talk about transforming communities to afford greater inclusion for those with disabilities in community life.

Voices of the Village is a performance ensemble made up of people who have developmental disabilities, which performs 30-plus gigs per year throughout the state and also leads weekly all-ages Friday music jam sessions from 1-3 p.m. at the Arlington United Church, as well as monthly dances for adults with disabilities.

Attendees are invited to join in using percussive instruments and microphones provided by the band during their concert, which is sponsored by their supporters in the community and the Rotary Club of Arlington in particular.
