ARLINGTON — Community members had a chance to hear the sounds of the holidays during a winter concert Dec. 17.

Three Arlington High School bands, directed by John Grabowski, performed in the concert at the Byrnes Performing Arts Center.

The school’s audition-only wind ensemble performed “Mock Morris” by Percy Aldridge Grainger. Soloists included Megan Beierly, Jennifer Brown, Randi Garr, Laurel Graves, Melody Leung, Tesia Lingenfelter, Eric McElroy, Amber Montgomery and Chris Vaughan.

Megan Beierly, James Clark, Tucker DeGraffenreid, Randi Garr, Karissa Gray, Ben Huge, Ileah Knutson, Ryann Lewis, Tesia Lingenfelter, Eric McElroy, Daneen Natac, Kyle Smith, David Taft-Farren and Chris Vaughan were soloists in movements one, two and three of Gustav Holst’s “First Suite in Eb.”

The ensemble concluded its concert with “Silver Sleigh” by Caesar Giovannini.

The school’s symphonic band, which includes 10th- through 12th-graders, performed “March for a Festive Occasion” by Eric Osterling, “Greensleeves” arranged by Alfred Reed with soloists Krissi Flick, Nichole Gray, Kelsea Lathamer and Justin O’Hara, as well as “Intrada Americana” by James Curnow.

The freshmen concert band played “Moorside March” by Gustav Holst and arranged by James Curnow with soloist Chani Larsen, and “Christmas Carillon” by James Curnow.
