ARLINGTON – Dancers, grab your partner and get ready again to Charleston, jitterbug, Lindy Hop and cakewalk your way into spring.
Arlington High School’s Jazz Bands present the 26th annual Swing into Spring Dessert Dance at 7 p.m. May 3-4 in the AHS Commons, 18821 Crown Ridge Blvd.
Students invite jazz lovers to shine up their dancing shoes as the Commons is transformed into the “Easy G Jazz Club,” featuring the ON HOLD and JAZZ II jazz bands, directed by John Grabowski.
Enjoy favorites by Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton, Glenn Miller, and many more. The event is a showcase for the jazz musicians and a major fundraiser for the bands.
The jazz bands hold class outside of regular school hours. ON HOLD is an audition-only band that meets every weekday at 7 a.m. before school. JAZZ II is a volunteer group that rehearses two evenings each week.
Tickets are $15.50, which includes dessert and beverages served by the jazz students. Some tickets may be available at the door, but purchasing online is recommended at arlingtonsd16.revtrak.net.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
