ARLINGTON – The city of Arlington, in partnership with Cascade Valley Hospital and Olympic Place Retirement Center announces two air conditioned locations that will be opened to all ages to help beat the heat.

Cascade Valley Hospital Café will be open from noon – 6 p.m. throughout the weekend and on Monday. The Café is located on the second floor of the hospital and will have free ice water available. Cascade Valley Hospital is located at 330 S. Stillaguamish.

Olympic Place Retirement & Senior Living Community will also be open throughout the weekend and on Monday as a cooling station. Olympic Place is located at 20909 Olympic Place.

Here are some additional tips to help beat the heat:

Stay Cool

Stay indoors as much as possible in an air conditioned environment.

Cover windows that receive morning and afternoon sunshine.

Wear light-weight clothing.

Check-up on relatives and neighbors that are elderly or have special needs.

Drink Liquids

Drink plenty of water or other non-alcoholic/non-caffeinated fluids.

Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink.

If You Go Outside

Limit your exposure to sunlight or wait until the morning/evening hours.

Use sunscreen with a high SPF (sun protection factor) rating if you plan to be outside and reapply often (every two hours).

Never leave children or pets in a vehicle – even with the windows rolled down.

If you’re headed to the Stillaguamish River, or any of our other local lakes and streams, to float or boat, don’t forget to wear your life jacket.
