Castaneda scored nine of her 10 points in the overtime period. The Eagles won the game at the free throw line, making 14 of 18, compared with 6 of 13 for the Warriors.

Jayla Russ, a 6-foot junior forward, led the winners with 17 points before fouling out with 1:17 to go in overtime and her team ahead 50-47. Jessica Ludwig, a 5-foot-9 senior guard, added 13 points, including a 3-pointer with 12 seconds left that knotted the score at 43-43 and sent it into overtime.

Arlington took a big lead at halftime 25-15 after holding Edmonds to four points in the second quarter, but the Warriors battled back with a couple of 3-pointers in the third quarter to pull within 34-31 after three.

After giving up the lead, the Lady Eagles went ahead 40-37 on an inside shot by Russ and a drive to the hoop by Ludwig. But they then went on a cold streak and didn’t score for three minutes, falling behind 43-40 before Ludwig made her big-time shot.

Ludwig scored after grabbing an offensive rebound, then drove to the hoop for another tally as Arlington went up 50-45. From there, Edmonds-Woodway had to foul and Castnada could not miss from there.
