ARLINGTON — Motorists traveling through downtown Arlington will notice a significant change at the intersection of Fourth Street and West Avenue.
City of Arlington Public Works crews took advantage of unseasonably warm and dry weather to convert the intersection into a four-way stop.
City crews have been planning the conversion of this intersection from a two-way stop, for traffic traveling east and west, to a full four-way stop to improve public safety and reduce the number of collisions.
“Our drivers are adjusting to the revision very quickly,” said Kristin Banfield, assistant city administrator for Arlington.
The intersection, just off State Route 9, is heavily traveled and sight lines are obscured by a rise in the roadway.
