ARLINGTON – K9 Oso and handler officer Seth Kinney caught two assault suspects between Oct. 12-17.
Oso, a German shepherd, caught his first suspect when called upon by the Marysville Police Department for assistance to track a violent suspect from an assault second-degree domestic violence incident. MPD currently doesn’t have a K9 available.
The suspect was violating a restraining order at the time that he assaulted the victim. The suspect ran into a wooded area behind the home.
Multiple K9 announcements were made, and the suspect refused to surrender. Oso tracked and located the suspect, who was taken into custody without incident.
On Oct., Oso and Kinney were again called to find a suspect involved in an assault, this time in Arlington.
The suspect assaulted the victim at a business in the 200 block of S. Olympic Ave. The suspect also ran into a wooded area behind a home.
Oso tracked the suspect, who was taken into custody without incident and booked in to Snohomish County Jail.
Oso is dually trained to detect people and illegal drugs. He has been a drug detection dog for the city since March 2015. Oso received his certification to track people in March.
