ARLINGTON — A 47-year-old Arlington man was arrested for allegedly shooting his older brother after an argument on Saturday, Dec. 5.

Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies responded to the 16200 block of Grant Creek Road in unincorporated Arlington at about 2 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports that the 47-year-old had shot his 52-year-old brother on a piece of property owned by the brothers’ family.

According to authorities, the older brother had gone to his younger brother’s house to talk with him about moving some cattle from one part of the property to another.

The discussion reportedly led to a fight between both brothers, and the younger brother allegedly went to his bedroom, got a rifle and fired a shot into the ceiling of the home and then shot his older brother.

Both brothers lived in separate houses on the property, said Rebecca Hover, public information officer for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Department.

The 52-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The 47-year-old man was booked into Snohomish County Jail on one count of second-degree murder.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office is scheduled to conduct an autopsy and will confirm and release the name of the deceased man.

The case remains under investigation by authorities.
