EVERETT — A number of Arlington, Marysville and Lakewood residents will be among those graduating with honors from Everett Community College June 11.

The college’s commencement ceremony takes place at 7 p.m. at Comcast Arena, and seven local graduates have been named Everett Community College 2010 Outstanding Graduates.

Those 24 graduates include Beau Baker (engineering), Clyde Downing (physics), Susan Fulfs (business technology), Natali Gonzalez (cosmetology) and Connor Woodward (chemistry) from Marysville and Sharil Kallstrom (nursing) and Jongseo Park (mathematics) from Arlington.

Those students, who will receive a gold medallion and certificate of award from the Associated Students, were nominated and selected in each of the college’s instructional divisions.

Their names will also appear on an Outstanding Graduates plaque, which will be displayed in the college’s student union building.

Eight other local students will be graduating from Everett Community College’s Ocean Research College Academy with both their associate’s degrees and their high school diplomas.

Those students include Kelsey Jorge, Kevin Shay and Tyler Smith from Marysville-Pilchuck High School; Briauna Grauber and Ryan Matson from Arlington High School; Gretchen Stroh from Stillaguamish Valley School and Adrian (AJ) Kresge and Shelby McCollum from Lakewood High School.

In addition to graduating, Grauber ($3,000), Jorge ($4,500 per year), Shay ($14,000) and Stroh ($51,000) all received scholarships to study at four-year institutions.

Approximately 50 students are accepted into the program each year. Students are able to earn college credit for free while attending classes at the college.

The academy is sponsored by Everett Community College and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
