ARLINGTON – Boy Scout Troop 29 will collect Christmas trees on Jan. 2 from 172nd north to the Stillaguamish River and 67th east to city limits.

ARLINGTON – Boy Scout Troop 29 will collect Christmas trees on Jan. 2 from 172nd north to the Stillaguamish River and 67th east to city limits.

Please place trees free of all decorations, tinsel and stands near the curb by 9 a.m.

Starting Dec. 31 until January 2 at 2 p.m. you can drop off your tree at the Legion Park parking lot.

Donations support Boy Scouts and youth activities in Arlington.

Checks made out to Troop 29 may be placed in an envelope and attached to your tree or mailed to:

Road project funding

ARLINGTON – The Washington State Transportation Improvement Board has selected several projects submitted by the city of Arlington to fund in 2016.

A $2.36 million grant will be available for construction of Arlington Valley Road. The road will have a southern connection at 67th Avenue and 192nd Street and a northern connection onto 74th Avenue.

A $203,000 grant will fund application of an asphalt overlay on Highland Drive (from Stillaguamish Avenue to Highway 9) and on Cemetery Road (from 67th to 47th Avenues.

A $79,500 grant will fund the relamping of approximately 120 city-owned street lights with light emitting diode (LED) lights. Areas to be relamped include Olympic Ave, 67th Avenue and 59th Avenue.
