Windermere Real Estate stages yard sale
The second annual Community Service Day Yard Sale for Windermere Real Estate of Arlington takes place June 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in their parking lot at 210 E. Burke St.
Arlington Windermere agents and staff members are currently collecting donations of new and gently used items to be sold, as well as cash donations. All proceeds from the sale, as well as any cash donations, will be split evenly between the Arlington Kids Kloset and Cocoon House through the Windermere Foundation. The Windermere Foundation will be matching funds raised up to $2,000 per charity, or $4,000 total in additional possible funds.
Putting on an event like this is a big job, but we had so much fun and got such an overwhelming positive response last year we had to do it again, said Kim Bryson, executive assistant and treasurer for Windermere Real Estate in Arlington. Our office is really a great big family and its so nice to be able to get involved with the community we live and work in, to show our pride and really make a difference.
Farmers market opens in Darrington
Darrington is launching a farmers market to bring the community together and provide an outlet for small cottage farmers, according to Martha Rasmussen, who is coordinating the weekly market on the 1100 block of Highway 530. The first market had six vendors lined up June 2, but there is space for 30. The booth fee is $10.
Rasmussen is hoping to make the market a social event with high school student fundraisers and live music, and maybe even a little square-dancing. Plans are to have a grand opening celebration in July.
