ARLINGTON — The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team was called to River Meadows Park on the Stillaguamish River, off Jordan Road in Arlington, around 5:15 p.m. on Monday, July 1.

Two kayakers had become stranded in some debris in the river, and before the Dive Team could arrive, Sheriff’s Office deputies and a local fire unit were able to assist one of the kayakers from the river.

When the Dive Team arrived, they were able to assist the second kayaker from the river, but during the rescue, a group of five people floating down the river on inflatable devices also became stranded. A local fire agency assisted that group out of the water and to safety.

Of the eight total people rescued, no one was injured or required aid during the incident.
